of the European elements of the International Space Station, VEGA
engineers have played a key role in the verification and validation
of the Columbus and ATV ground segments. In particular ESA has
relied on VEGA for the organisation, execution and evaluation of
the System Validation Tests of the two spacecraft with their
respective ground segments. Furthermore, VEGA has played a key role
in the Certification of Flight Readiness for both Columbus and

“I just wanted to report on the
success of the RADARSAT-2 launch yesterday and the completion of
LEOP today. We've got the spacecraft into its Normal Point Mode and
ready for the start of the Commissioning Phase tomorrow. Not bad
for MDA who are new to all this! The success of the flight
operations is due in large part to VEGA’s R2 simulator. I've lost
count of how many times I've heard ‘It's a good thing we were able
to test this out on the Sim, or we'd never be ready’. The Sim has
also come to our aid a few times in flight to test out some new
operational sequences. Of course, it's also thanks to VEGA that I
could play a part in RADARSAT-2, using the experience gained on XMM
and the XMM simulator at ESOC. So again, my thanks to the
VEGA Sim team and everyone else I've known at VEGA over the years.
